A campaign towards a zero-waste Philippines through the active participation of Philippine companies on proper waste segregation
The Zero Basura Olympics is EDNPI's advocacy campaign towards a zero-waste Philippines. It is a creative way to implement Republic Act No. 9003, also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. The program is a campaign to gather a critical mass consisting of the government, environmentalists, NGOs (non-government organizations) corporations, cause-oriented groups and other advocates to promote the program towards a "Basura"-free Philippines by encouraging them to practice proper waste segregation and install the system within their jurisdictions.
The project has two (2) subprograms mainly the Zero Basura Olympics for Business Division and the Mini(mize) Carbon Olympics.
The Zero Basura Olympics is an advocacy campaign geared towards a zero waste Philippines. Also, the Zero Basura Olympics is a creative way to implement Republic Act 9003 or also known as The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. The program encourages the participation of the business community not only to practice proper waste segregation but also embed within themselves (business owners, managers, and employees) the proper practice in their day-to day practice or operations especially in the aftermath of Tropical Storms "Ondoy" and "Pepeng" which brought devastation that led to the destruction of countless properties and lost of lives.
